Mark your calendar to join VEINC and our giving circle's Chief Ambassador, Dr. Melba Moore (renowned gospel artist and former R&B) as we launch Ambassadors for Economic Independence (AFEI) - a 1 million dollar giving circle designed to create economic independence for low-income families headed by women through 'community-based' grant making in: 1) educational scholarships; 2) entrepreneurship grants and micro loans 3) child care and transportation stipends; and 4) temporary housing assistance for victims of domestic abuse.
Honorable Jolene Ivey, Maryland State Delegate will join us as our keynote speaker and Ms. Taylor Thomas of WHUR 96.3 will join us as the Emcee.

Creating Social Change through Teen Activism
Virtuous Enterprises, Inc. Teen Empowerment Conference is designed to teach attendees how to use their gifts, time, and talent to engage in civic activism to strengthen the communities where they live, work, and attend school. We believe the "teenage mind" is good planting soil to produce fruits of wisdom through seeds of knowledge accompanied with water of hope to address issues that debilitates the core value system of our vibrant communities. Following are the sessions that will be held during the conference:
- Community Organizing: Is it possible at my age?
- Leadership 101: What does it really take to be a great leader?
- Consumerism: What's the impact in our communities?
- Youth and Politics: Is there a Connection?
- Teen Philanthropy: Legacy Givers
- Community Stakeholders: The Branches of Government

Please join Virtuous Enterprises, Inc. and the Ambassadors for Economic Independence Giving Circle (AFEI) as we honor and present The 2009 Philanthropist in Action Award to a deserving constituent or business owner that made a positive impact in the life of an individual or nonprofit group based in Prince George's County, Maryland through donation, partnership, or volunteerism.
In addition, the AFEI Giving Circle will distribute its first round of community-based grants to approved grant recipients in Education and Transportation.
Philanthropist in Action nominations will start on September 7, 2009 and honorees will be notified by October 5, 2009.
AFEI Giving Circle will start accepting grant applications for educational scholarships and transportation stipends on August 31. Grant awardees will be notified by October 8, 2009.
